JUNE - AUGUST | BALTLAL & PAHALGAM ROUTES
Most demanding Himalayan pilgrimage to the Ice Lingam. Force Urbania transport to Baltal or Pahalgam base camp. Registration & medical guidance included. Plan 2-3 months ahead.
Physically Demanding - Requires Advance Planning
The Amarnath Yatra, to the ice lingam shrine deep in the Kashmir Himalayas, is one of the most physically demanding pilgrimages in the country and one that requires careful advance planning, valid registration, and a compulsory health certificate for every pilgrim.
We support this yatra by flying or arranging travel for your group into Srinagar or Jammu, with our Force Urbania then handling the road journey to the Baltal or Pahalgam base camp, from where the trek or pony/helicopter portion begins under the official Shrine Board's arrangements.
14 km one way. Typically completed in a single demanding day. Steeper ascent. Better for fit pilgrims with less time.
36 km via Chandanwari, Sheshnag, Panchtarni. Usually taken over 3 to 5 days. More scenic, gradual climb.
Available from both Baltal and Pahalgam. Subject to weather and Shrine Board slots. We help with bookings.
Arranged at base camp. Recommended for those who need assistance on the trek.
Which route suits your group depends on fitness levels, available time, and personal preference — we can talk you through the trade-offs when you enquire.
Because the yatra requires Shrine Board registration well in advance including a mandatory medical certificate from an authorised doctor, we recommend starting your planning at least 2 to 3 months before the yatra dates. Yatra typically falls between late June/early July to August, tied to Shravan month and closes around Raksha Bandhan.
Our package covers Force Urbania transport from Srinagar or Jammu to your chosen base camp Baltal or Pahalgam and back, along with fuel and tolls.
Not Included: Flight or train tickets into Jammu/Srinagar, Shrine Board registration and medical certification, pony/palanquin/helicopter charges on the trek, or accommodation at base camp or en route. We guide you through registration and medical process.
Given the altitude, weather volatility, and physical demands, we place particular emphasis on realistic planning: confirming your registration and medical clearance are in order before departure, building in acclimatisation time where possible, and staying in close contact throughout in case weather or Shrine Board advisories require a schedule change.
The Amarnath Yatra is not one we recommend undertaking without proper preparation, and we're upfront about this with every family or group that enquires.
We're candid with families about who this yatra suits. Given the altitude and physical demands, we generally advise against bringing very young children or elderly travellers with significant mobility or cardiac concerns. We'd rather have that honest conversation upfront than let a group commit to a trip that will be genuinely difficult.
If you're travelling from outside Jammu and Kashmir, we can also advise which base camp suits first-time yatris better and help coordinate your Srinagar or Jammu flight timing with our road transport schedule.
