Each of the four shrines carries its own significance: Yamunotri, the source of the Yamuna, reached via a trek from Janki Chatti; Gangotri, origin point of the Ganga, set among pine forests; Kedarnath, one of the twelve Jyotirlingas, reached by a demanding uphill trek or pony/palanquin from Gaurikund; and Badrinath, dedicated to Lord Vishnu, the most accessible of the four by road. Devotees traditionally visit in this order, moving from west to east across Uttarakhand's Garhwal Himalayas.

Overnight drive or early departure to Haridwar/Rishikesh. Proceed to Barkot. Rest and acclimatization for Yamunotri trek.
